Only last week Jermain Defoe commented on his battle for a starting position in Martin Jol’s Tottenham side stating that competition for places could only be good for the squad. The absence of David Trezeguet from the Juventus line-up that took on Napoli in the Coppa Italia has started rumours that he will be moving before the transfer window closes this week. Although Juve would like to keep the player they may find it difficult to turn down offers, and with the player having intimated he would prefer a move why keep a player that doesn’t want to play for the club. Reportedly Real Madrid have put an offer on the table which is at least not as far apart as Arsenal and Chelsea were over the initial offer for Ashley Cole. German international and Werder Bremen striker Miroslav Klose has been voted German player of the year by the country’s leading football journalists. He is not always a striker linked as many others sometimes are to Europe's top clubs, but maybe he should be.
