Newcastle + Lyon targets appear available

Written by Sawyer | 8th August 2006 | 1 Comment(s)

Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has given the strongest indication yet that Thomas Gravesen and Carlos Diogo have no future at the club.

The pair have been overlooked for Madrid's 24-man squad for their forthcoming tour to the U.S.A and look set to continue their careers elsewhere this season.

Gravesen, the former Everton midfielder, has been heavily linked with a move back to England with Newcastle United seemingly the keenest to secure the Dane's signature.

Last week Gravesen was involved in a training ground bust-up with Brazilian winger Robinho, but it is quite likely Capello had already decided to leave him behind before the spat, with the arrival of Emerson from Juventus more than likely to spell the end for Gravesen.

Diogo has been associated with a move to Lyon, a move that may be prompted into action following this decision.

Ronaldo and Guti are not in the travelling party because of injury, but their futures seem to be secure for the time being.

Capello will be keen to monitor the form of Ruud van Nistelrooy and be hoping that he and his former Manchester United team-mate will be able to link as well as they did at Old Trafford.

Real should be far stronger defensively this season with Fabio Cannavaro within their ranks, and should provide a keen contest for La Liga with champions Barcelona.

The complete list for the tour is:

Casillas, Diego Lopez, Adan; Michel Salgado, Cicinho, Sergio Ramos, Cannavaro, Ivan Helguera, Woodgate, Pavon, Raul Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Emerson, Pablo Garcia, Javi Garcia, De la Red, Beckham, Juanfran, Balboa, Baptista; Raul, Robinho, Cassano, Van Nistelrooy.

Barcelona are going to be crowned champions of La Liga again this year no matter who signs for Real Madrid. Barcelona play how every team should, passing the ball around and helping one another on the pitch, their team work is incredible. Real Madrid is different and similar to Chelsea, great players but can't play that well as a team, they play as individuals. Too many greedy money loving footballers in Madrid and Chelsea, in Barcelona they play with passion.

Arsenal set for striker change.
Saturday’s instalment of the Arsenal/Liverpool trilogy provided some cause for many to think that all was not well in the Arsenal camp as Nicklas Bendtner headed home, only to then celebrate alone with the fans as the rest of the players shunned their customary group frivolities at scoring. This summer could see Arsene Wenger shuffle his striking options?

Liverpool & Everton - Run-in Predictions
The fight for points and places at either end of the table will take much of the attention and once again we also have the added issue of Merseyside supremacy for the 4th Champions League spot, which could prove just as intriguing as the other battles.
