Man City - another signing on the way?
Written by Sawyer | 11th August 2006 | 0 Comment(s)
Swedish 'keeper Andreas Isaksson is looking the man most likely to replace David James between the posts at Manchester City.
The player's agent, Roger Ljung, is in Manchester to discuss the possible move from French side Rennes.
"It is true that I am in Manchester now, I am sitting with plenty of people now and am just on my way to a meeting.'' confirmed Ljung.
"We hope it will be official. We would not be here if we didn't think it would be sealed."
The Swedish international performed well at the recent World Cup in Germany and has also been linked with moves to Charlton Athletic and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, manager Stuart Pearce has revealed his delight in signing Tunisian international Hatem Trabelsi.
"He is one of the best Bosmans of the summer," enthused Pearce on the club website.
"He has played at the highest level for Ajax, and been to three World Cups. He captains his country as well, so it is a good CV."
With concerns regarding the long-term fitness of the former Ajax player, Trabelsi underwent a tough medical at Eastlands, but ultimately convinced club staff to hand him a contract.
Nevertheless, there are still many in Holland that don't think Trabelsi will manage to steer clear of injury, but his pace down the right-hand side should prove a useful weapon for Pearce when he does play.
He will now link up with his new City team-mates and prepare for the opening day clash away to Chelsea, who may or may not have Ashley Cole at left-back for the encounter.
